Carol Aitken, MBACP

A bit of background …

After completing a BA in Management Studies, I worked in a large corporate environment for 15 years. During this time, I discovered my passion to help people grow. This led me to retraining and qualifying as a person centred counsellor, before extending my training to include CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) techniques into my client work.

Experience

I have run my private business for over 10 years and have gained vast experience of working with clients across a wide range of issues.  I have worked in organisations specialising in bereavement, relationships, an Occupational Health setting and with Breast Cancer Care, offering group support for Secondary Breast Cancer.

As well as private practice, I am an affiliated counsellor with a number of Employee Assistance Programs and Health Providers, including BUPA, Cigna, Validium and Health Assured. I also offer more specialised support to individuals suffering trauma following road traffic accidents.

I deliver contractual work for Wellbeing checks on behalf of Optima for Police Scotland and offer training in a number of areas around Mental Health such as managing stress and building resilience.

Accreditation

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) regulated by their professional code of conduct and work within their code of ethics.
