Counselling

In a counselling session you will have the opportunity to share any issues you may have in a confidential and safe environment.  You will not be judged and you will be respected as an individual who has their own unique experience. You can choose what to share and when you want to share it and the choice to explore it with my support will remain with you.

You will be supported and empowered to look at yourself from a different perspective. The aim is not only to help you cope with a current issue or crisis, but to do so in a way that produces learning for the future.

Gaining a greater understanding and self awareness can often be the first step towards positive change. Counselling can build your self-esteem and confidence.

Often there is nothing we can pinpoint, it may be that you are just “stuck in a rut”, low or generally unhappy. This might lead to work in altering behaviour patterns which have become unhelpful.

At other times it may be hard to come to terms with an illness or event that is impacting on life which is making it difficult.

If you are experiencing depression, symptoms may include: dislike or hate of yourself, thinking you are useless or worthless, despair of things getting any better, feeling as if a heavy weight or blanket is bearing down on you, you may even have thoughts of suicide.

By its very nature, depression feeds off itself. People who are depressed sometimes withdraw from others and may then regard growing isolation as a sign of their own worthlessness. Understanding how they feel and using CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) techniques helps people address their thoughts and influence their feelings and help them out of their vicious circle.

Each session will last up to an hour and is payable by cheque or cash. Some weekend or evening appointments may be available.

Finding your place in the world and in yourself.  Nunavik.
